Rasayanas are elixirs and tonics prized by the branch of Ayurvedic medicine devoted to rejuvenation and promoting mental and physical health. Tinospora cordifolia is a Rasayana.
India calls it Amrita, which means immortality, Guduchi, which means the one who protects the entire body, or Giloe, which means heavenly elixir[1,2].
Traditionally, T.cordifolia was used as a tonic to counter mental fatigue and improve thinking (Madhya Rasayana).
In addition to acting as an adaptogen, T.cordifolia was believed to support resilience to and recovery from stress.
Immunity is one of its traditional uses, especially when it comes to promoting a balanced immune system.
Various active compounds are present in T.cordifolia, including polysaccharides and bitter compounds[3–6].
