The current Western standard lifestyle of processed foods, refined sugar, reliance on pharmaceuticals, poor quality water, environmental pollutants, stress and lack of essential minerals, causes an excessive acidic load on the body. This acidic load has to be counter-balanced by the body at all times, causing a strain on resources. This leads to a myriad of health challenges and destroys your energy levels. In this article, we discuss this and the benefits of getting your body back into balance.
When the body detects an excessive acidic load brought on by modern habits of diet, stress, pollution, and other actions that go against the way the body evolved to function, it must be brought back into balance. By taking certain steps, such as choosing the correct foods and drinks, and providing an abundant supply of the right minerals, we can reduce this load, giving the body a huge amount of extra energy to do the things it is supposed to do.
Imagine that you are in an extremely hot environment. Your body must work very hard to regulate your core temperature. Heat significantly impacts your energy levels, and it can be incredibly uncomfortable. Now imagine being in searing temperatures 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. How would this affect your performance and your energy levels?
The acid/alkaline balance of your body works similarly, and your body works extremely hard to maintain a delicate balance. Most of us bombard our body with acids in our daily diet. So, you can imagine the effect this has on health, as the body must work overtime to maintain the balance. It’s a continuous effort, and we get used to feeling sick and tired.
Although maintaining alkaline balance is a basic function the body is accustomed to doing, the effect of intentionally reducing the load is surprising. In short, it helps keep your blood free of negative microorganisms (such as mold), boosts your mitochondria, frees up lots of body functions to work efficiently, and supercharges your energy levels.
A 2012 review published in the Journal of Environmental Health found an alkaline diet can help reduce morbidity and mortality from numerous chronic diseases and ailments—such as hypertension, diabetes, arthritis, vitamin D deficiency, and low bone density, to name a few.
Additionally, alkaline diets have been shown to help prevent plaque formation in blood vessels, stop calcium from accumulating in urine, prevent kidney stones, and build stronger bones.
At the other extreme, when the body is overly acidic, we are at an increased risk of type 2 diabetes, hypertension, and degenerative diseases. Not only are high-acid diets are also associated with gout, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), and kidney stones, they can increase your risk for cancer, liver problems, and heart disease.
In fact, a study conducted by Cambridge University found that....
“A deficiency in these minerals… Is a real phenomenon, and has a significant, clinical, long-term physiological effect that should be recognized and potentially counterbalanced.
The effects of deficiency can directly contribute to various cancers, arthritis, osteoporosis, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, depression/psychological dysfunction, Crohn's disease and kidney disease.”
