ABOUT REISHI MUSHROOM

A common name for this mushroom is Reishi in Japanese (this is what it's called in America) and Lingzhi in Chinese.

Ganoderma lucidum is considered the "mushroom of immortality." It is regarded as a tonic in Traditional Chinese Medicine. Traditionally, it was believed that shen tonics supported peace of mind, joy, the balance of emotions, optimism, sound sleep, and clarity of thought.

As a shen tonic, reishi has traditionally been used to replenish Qi, ease, and center the mind, increase resistance to fatigue, promote well-being, and support sleep.

The herb was considered ideal for calming restlessness and quieting a hyperactive mind.

Additionally to these traditional uses, recent research has focused on reishi mushrooms' ability to support the immune system and rejuvenate the body. This is in addition to their ability to function as stem cells.

There are many compounds found in Reishi extracts, including polysaccharides (such as beta glucans), peptidoglycans, and triterpenoid compounds (e.g., lucidenic acids).

Additionally, the mushroom contains low amounts of nucleosides (adenine, guanine, inosine, thymidine, and uracil), nucleotides (adenine, guanine, hypoxanthine, thymine, and uracil), and a neurotransmitter named GABA[1-3].
