ABOUT GINKGO BILOBA

One of the most widely used and researched herbs for the brain is Ginkgo biloba. Traditional Chinese Medicine has used ginkgo biloba for several hundred years. The use of standardized Ginkgo biloba extracts dates back to the mid-1960s.

As the only surviving species of the order Ginkgoales that existed on earth 190 million years ago, the Ginkgo biloba tree is a living fossil native to China. Some specimens of the trees are believed to be as old as 1,500 years.

Some of its bioactive ingredients include flavonoid glycosides such as quercetin, kaempferol, and isorhamnetin, as well as substances known as terpene lactones such as ginkgolides A, B, and C, and bilobalide. These compounds in Ginkgo are responsible for supporting multiple neurotransmitter systems, supporting neurogenesis, as well as supporting healthy vascular function and cerebral blood flow.

One of the best-known effects of Ginkgo Biloba is its ability to promote attention, concentration, memory, and mood.
